PHILGUARANTEE Celebrates 2026 National Women’s Month
In celebration of 2026 National Women’s Month, the Philippine Guarantee Corporation (PHILGUARANTEE) holds a meaningful gathering during its flag ceremony on 30 March 2026 at PHILGUARANTEE head office in Makati City.
Anchored on the theme, “Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”, the ceremony aims to honor the strength, leadership, resilience, and invaluable contributions of women in nation-building and in the workplace.
Highlighting the celebration is the presence of Guest of Honor and Speaker, undersecretary Angela E. Ignacio of the Department of Finance, who shares valuable insights on women empowerment, leadership, and the continuing role of women in shaping a more inclusive and progressive society.
In her message, Usec. Ignacio underscored the importance of women’s participation and empowerment in public service and economic development. “Women in public service do not serve despite their circumstances; we serve because of everything we have overcome to get here”, she said. She also emphasized the broader impact of empowering women economically, noting that “when you empower women economically, you do not empower one person, you set off a chain reaction across an entire household, a neighborhood, or even a generation”.
Further stressing the relevance of institutions such as PHILGUARANTEE, she highlighted the financing challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, citing that women-owned businesses account for a significant share of the global MSME finance gap. She noted that despite often facing higher borrowing costs, longer loan approval periods, and stricter collateral requirements, women have consistently demonstrated strong credit performance and repayment behavior. “Women are not just good borrowers, they are, by the data, better borrowers,” she added.
A key part of the program was the recognition of PHILGUARANTEE Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, and Officers in Charge as female leaders and male Gender and Development (GAD) champions, in acknowledgment of their invaluable contributions in promoting gender equality, inclusivity, and empowerment within the corporation.
Through this celebration, PHILGUARANTEE reaffirms its commitment to advancing gender equality, women empowerment, and inclusive development, while honoring those who help drive positive change in the institution and workplace.
