PHILGUARANTEE inks MOU with Water.org on sustainable water solutions, financial inclusion

In a step to further sustainable initiatives, the Philippine Guarantee Corporation (PHILGUARANTEE) and Water.org have entered into a strategic partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed on Monday, September 30, 2024.

Led by PHILGUARANTEE President and CEO Alberto Pascual and Water.org Southeast Asia Regional Director Griselda Santos, the MOU seeks both parties to collaborate on exploring the provisioning of credit guarantees to financial institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and infrastructure partners of Water.org, thereby developing mechanisms that will mitigate risks and promote lending in the water and sanitation value chain.

“We are committed to enhancing financial access for small-to-medium enterprises operating within the water, sanitation, and hygiene sector. These SMEs will contribute in ensuring that vital resources and services reach those who need them most,” said PCEO Pascual in his remarks.

“Our collaboration aims to provide credit guarantees that empower rural banks to extend their support to these vital enterprises. Together, we can ensure that every Filipino has access to the water and sanitation services they deserve,” he added.

The signing event also intends to support ongoing efforts in achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6, which focuses on clean water and sanitation for all, as part of the broader 2023 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
